About the Artist

     Deborah L. Humphreys lives in Newark, New Jersey. 

     She currently works as a bilingual social worker/supervisor at the Ironbound Community Corporation. Her past social work experience has included legislative aide in the NJ State Senate, executive director of Pueblo Nuevo Housing and Development Association in Loisaida, NYC, executive director of St. Columba Neighborhood Club/El Club del Barrio as well as an adjunct at the College of St. Elizabeth, Kean University and Rutgers University. She taught Irish briefly but happily at McGovern’s Tavern in Newark (and has a t-shirt to show for her efforts).

As a visual artist, she has had her haiga and photography displayed at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County and other venues. She has done covers for chapbooks (as well as reviews)  Deborah is a member of Viridian Print Studio, a collective of artists at Riker Hill Park in Livingston, NJ.

     Deborah is also a Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth of New Jersey since 1972.

     She received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College, Plainfield Vermont in 2009.
